Clients

A client is an organisation whose compliance you manage. Each client has its own workspace: its laws, controls, gap analysis, inventory and registers.

Practice and real clients

  • Practice clients are fictional. Use them to learn and to try things out. They are not encrypted.
  • Real clients are actual organisations. Each needs its own subscription, and its data is encrypted. See Account, plans and payments.

Adding a client

  1. Go to Clients and choose Add client.
  2. Enter the client’s name and choose its sector. The sector decides which gap analysis and data inventory starter the client gets.
  3. For a real client, choose the subscription period and pay.
  4. Choose the laws that apply. See Choosing the applicable laws.

Sectors with extra tools

Clients in these sectors get a sector gap analysis, a data inventory with a starter list, sector questions in DPIAs, and typical risks and breach examples: banks, e-commerce, hospitals and healthcare providers, higher education, hotels, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and schools. EdTech clients get the gap analysis. More sectors are being added.

The client card

Each client on the Clients page has a card with its score, laws, last activity and subscription, and buttons to:

  • open the Report;
  • Renew a real client’s subscription;
  • download vDPO Auditor configured for the client;
  • edit the client’s laws or details;
  • open the Gap analysis, where the sector has one;
  • download a Backup of a real client;
  • delete the client.

Switching between clients

Inside a workspace, the client’s name at the top of the left menu is a switcher: choose another client to open the same page for it. The button beside it collapses the menu to icons, to give the page more room.

Deleting a client

Deleting a client removes it and all its data straight away, including its encryption key, and ends its subscription without a refund. Download a backup first if you may need the data again.
