Choosing the applicable laws
The laws you choose for a client decide which controls appear in its compliance modules and how its progress is measured.
Choosing laws
- Open the client and choose Applicable Laws in the left menu.
- Tick every law that applies to the client: where it is established, where its customers and employees are, and any sector laws in the library.
- Choose Save Laws.
The first time you save, you are taken to the client’s report. You can change the laws at any time; scores are recalculated straight away.
Finding a law quickly
- Search by law name, short name or country, for example “GDPR” or “Singapore”.
- Regions narrow the list to Asia, Europe, North America and so on.
- Selected only shows the laws already ticked.
The count beside the filters shows how many laws are selected and how many are shown. The arrow beside a law opens its source text where one is available.
How laws affect the work
Each control belongs to one law. A client sees the controls for its selected laws only, and the report shows progress for each law under Assessment Progress by Law. Controls from laws you remove disappear from the modules; their ticks and notes are kept if you add the law back.
